Pennsylvania sports betting revenue drops from January

Figures reported by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board showed combined table game and slot machine revenue reached $264m, a 0.4% increase year-on-year.

The biggest individual growth came from Mount Airy Casino Resort, which saw its revenue rise by 11% to $14.5m. Parx Casino generated the largest amount of revenue ($48.7m), although this was a 0.2% decrease.

Elsewhere, Pennsylvania sports betting handle for the month was $31.5m; this p was $500,000 down on January’s total, while revenue fell 27% from January’s $2.6m.

Rivers Casino accepted the highest handle ($8.1m) and generated the highest revenue ($627,000), resulting in $226,000 in tax.

SugarHouse Casino generated $522,000 in revenue from $7.1m in handle, although Parx Casino made $370,000 from a similar handle of $7m.

Harrah’s Philadelphia generated $137,000 from $2.9m in handle, while South Philadelphia Race and Sportsbook made $276,000 from $2.6m in accepted bets.

However, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course took $3.7m in handle and generated just $14,000 in revenue.

Sports wagering is still relatively new to the market in Pennsylvania but February’s ps are already highlighting the impact of the state’s 36% tax rate.
