Betway’s head trader Danny Hart gives his top tips for the 2nd night of the Betway Premier League Darts
Wes Newton v Raymond van Barneveld
After watching last week there looks to only be one winner, if only the Premier League was that easy to predict. Barney scored 6 180’s and crushed Gary Anderson 7-1, who in all honesty did nothing wrong. Wes had a tough opener vs the in-form Peter Wright and just could not find the doubles to compete in this match-up. In the end, a 23% conversion rate cost him the match.
Barney to win easy, 7-1 or 7-2 is the pick here.
RVB to win 7-1 – 10/1
RVB to win 7-2 – 15/2
Dave Chisnall v Peter Wright
The two debutants meet in this clash, both won their opening match and will look to keep up their 100% record. Dave Chisnall came back from 3-1down last week to overcome Robert Thornton 7-5, a nervous start but I’m sure there is more to come from Chizzy. He can score heavily and last week’s average of 93.87 can be improved on.
Peter Wright is the in-form player, runner up in the World Championships and won his opening match in comfortable fashion with a near 100 average.
Peter Wright should take this in a close encounter.
Peter Wright to win – 17/20
Gary Anderson v Simon Whitlock
Both these players were on the wrong side of a beating last week, Gary Anderson played pretty well but Barney was unstoppable. Whitlock on the other hand will be looking to improve on his poor 86 average, which will see you beaten every week in the Premier League.
This match-up sees two very experienced players who have played on the main stage for a number of years. They won’t let last week affect them and both players will be looking to get their campaign underway.
Gary Anderson was unfortunate last week, he still averaged 100 and hit 3 x 180s in 8 legs, we expect Anderson to win this match.
Most 180’s – Gary Anderson – 11/10
Adrian Lewis v Phil Taylor
Two very different opening matches last week, Phil “The Power” Taylor whitewashed and Adrian Lewis winning 7-1 vs Whitlock. Taylor will want to show the darting world he can bounce back and avoid his second defeat in a row.
On recent form it’s hard to oppose Lewis, but Taylor is the best player of all time and after hitting two nine darters at the UK Open qualifiers on Sunday, any complaints about his new darts can be pretty much written off. Taylor leads the H2H between the two so look out for The Power to strike.
We are backing Taylor to get his first win of the Premier League season. Lewis is a great player but Phil can get back to winning ways here.
Phil Taylor to win – 11/10
Draw – 4/1
Robert Thornton v Michael van Gerwen
The final match brings us the World number 1 vs Robert Thornton. On the back of his 7-0 demolition of Phil Taylor, MvG will be full of confidence and I fear the worst for Robert Thornton.
Thornton lost a close match with Chisnall last week and he will have to up his scoring by 7 0r 8 pts just to get close.
This should be a walk over and we predict correct scores of 7-2 or 7-3 to Mighty Mike.
van Gerwen to win 7-1 – 8/1
van Gerwen to win 7-2 – 13/2
Thronton to win – 9/2
